ŽelezniÄar PanÄevo fought hard to earn a 2-1 win over Radnik Surdulica in the Serbian Super Liga on Sunday evening, with Ghanaian forward Kwaku Karikari playing a key role off the bench.
The first half ended goalless despite both sides pushing for an opener. Just two minutes into the second half, Sava Petrov broke the deadlock with a neat finish, giving ŽelezniÄar an early lead. Radnik responded in the 72nd minute when Martin Novakovic fired in an equalizer, igniting hopes of a comeback for the home fans.
It was then that Karikari entered the stage. Brought on in the 68th minute to replace Petrov, the Ghanaian striker quickly made his presence felt. With the game nearing its end, Karikari delivered a precise cross in the 88th minute, which Janko Jevremovic met with a powerful header to seal the win for ŽelezniÄar.
The away fans celebrated not just the victory, but also the spark Karikari added when it mattered most. ŽelezniÄar now look ahead to their clash with FK Spartak Subotica on August 31.
