Hearts of Lions defeated Asante Kotoko 1-0 on Friday afternoon in their second game at the 2025 GHALCA Top 4 tournament.
The Kpando-based club locked horns with the Porcupine Warriors today, having lost to Hearts of Oak in their opening match at the tournament on Wednesday.
The opponent, Asante Kotoko, also went into the fixture on the back of a 2-1 loss to Bibiani Gold Stars in their first match.
With both teams in need of a win to keep hopes of winning the GHALCA Top 4 alive, players showed determination from the start of the first half, in a bid to score to earn all three points.
At the end of the first half, with plenty of action, Heart of Lions led by a goal to nil thanks to a strike from Paul Atta Agyei.
Despite the best efforts of Asante Kotoko in the second half, the team could not breach the Heart of Lions' defense, forcing the Reds to succumb to a narrow defeat at the end of the 90 minutes.
Lions will now prepare for their final game against Gold Stars, while Asante Kotoko aim for victory against bitter rivals Heart of Oak on Sunday.
