Ghanaian tactician and head coach of Sudan’s men’s football national team, James Kwesi Appiah, is hoping to lead the team to victory against Algeria in the quarter-final of the 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN).
Coach Appiah and his side have so far impressed with their performance at the ongoing tournament.
The team thrashed Nigeria 4-0 in their opening match before drawing with Congo and Senegal in the other group games to progress to the knockout stage.
Speaking in an interview after the last match against Senegal, Coach Kwesi Appiah assured the Sudanese fans that his team won’t let them down in the quarter-final.
“The people of Zanzibar have been fantastic. We wouldn’t like to let them down in terms of the quality of our football.
“The Zanzibar people have similarities with our Sudanese people. They speak Arabic, so there was a bond from the time we came into the city. To our fans across the world, we will not let you down,” Coach Appiah said in his post-match.
The quarter-final match between Sudan and Algeria will be played on August 23 at Amaan Stadium.
