Former England striker Jermain Defoe has hailed Ghana international Antoine Semenyo as the standout performer in AFC Bournemouth’s Premier League opener against Liverpool.
Semenyo shone at Anfield on Friday night, scoring twice in Bournemouth’s 4-2 defeat, and earned high praise from Defoe, who described the 25-year-old as the best player on the pitch.
"Semenyo was the best player on the pitch. He is so dynamic, and he is strong going forward, and he is good with his feet," he told Premier League Production.
"With his power, it is always difficult to play against him," he added.
Bournemouth will be hoping Semenyo can maintain this form when they welcome Wolverhampton Wanderers to the Vitality Stadium next weekend.
The forward will be looking to build on a stellar season in which he netted 11 goals in the English top flight, aiming to help the Cherries mount another strong campaign.
