Ghanaian midfielder Kwasi Sibo played his first game in the Spanish top division following the start of the 2025/26 La Liga season with Real Oviedo.
Sibo helped Oviedo achieved a historic return to La Liga last season after over a decade in the lower divisions.
The 27-year-old, who has over 70 appearances in La Liga 2, started and lasted the entire duration as the returnees suffered a 2-0 defeat to Villarreal at the Estadio de la Ceramica.
Real Oviedo were reduced to ten men early in the match after Alberto Reina was sent off in the 26th minute.
The hosts took advantage to open the scoring in the 29th minute through Etta Eyong before Senegalese attacker Pape Gueye doubled the advantage moments before half time.
Sibo's compatriot Thomas Partey was a late substitute for Villarreal, coming on to make his La Liga debut for the Yellow Submarines.
