Dutch-Ghanaian winger Ernest Poku set for Bayer Leverkusen move in â?¬10m deal

Ernest Poku is closing in on a big move that could shape the next chapter of his career.

The 21-year-old right winger from AZ Alkmaar is already in Leverkusen to complete the final steps of his transfer, according to Bild. The deal, expected to cost around €10 million, would see Poku become the chosen replacement for Jeremie Frimpong, who recently joined Liverpool.

Known for his blistering pace and attacking spark, Poku could bring a fresh edge to Leverkusen’s right side. His rise has been steady since signing his first professional contract with AZ Alkmaar in February 2020. He made his senior debut as a substitute in a 1–0 loss to RKC Waalwijk on 14 August 2021, marking the beginning of his Eredivisie journey.

With his contract in the Netherlands running until 2026, this move offers both a new challenge and a chance to make an impact at the highest level. Leverkusen fans may not have to wait long for confirmation that Poku will wear their colors next season.
