Black Stars duo Kamaldeen Sulemana and Ibrahim Sulemana were both on the scoresheet as Atalanta BC played out an entertaining 3-3 draw against Croatian side NK Opatija in a pre-season clash at the Centro Sportivo Bortolotti 1 on Sunday.
Manager Ivan Juric handed both Black Stars players starting roles, and they made the most of the opportunity, lasting the entire 90 minutes.
Kamaldeen opened the scoring in the 23rd minute with a close-range finish after connecting to a teasing cross.
However, NK Opatija equalised through Rajan Zlibanovic, who would later complete a first-half brace.
Ibrahim restored Atalanta’s lead in the 34th minute with a stunning strike from the edge of the box into the top corner. But Zlibanovic’s second ensured the first half ended level at 2-2.
After the restart, Nigerian forward Goodness Ajayi put the visitors ahead for the first time in the 50th minute.
Atalanta pressed for an equaliser and were rewarded late on when Lazar Samardzic converted from the penalty spot to make it 3-3.
The draw means Atalanta remain without a win in their last two pre-season games, following a heavy defeat to FC Cologne the previous day.
They will wrap up their preparations against Juventus before the 2025/26 Serie A season kicks off.
