Ghana international Daniel Afriyie Barnieh delivered a top-class performance to help FC Aarau secure victory over Xamax in the Swiss Challenge League.
The former Hearts of Oak forward started and played full throttle of the match as his outfit cruised to a 2-0 win over their opponent on Saturday.
FC Aarau scored on either side of the pitch to snatch victory over Xamax at the Stadion Brügglifeld.
Barnieh, who joined the Swiss lower-tier club this summer opened the scoring for the host after just 14 minutes into the match as they went to the halftime break with the advantage. It was the Ghana international’s second consecutive strike for FC Aarau.
The home team proved to be the stronger opponent, with Henri Koide scoring on stoppage time to seal victory.
The 24-yar-old forward has been impressive for FC Aarau since the commencement of the new season, scoring two goals from two appearances after three matches so far.
Barnieh joined FC Aarau this summer following his departure from FC Zurich, signing a two-year deal with the club.
