German-Ghanaian defender Joshua Quarshie made his debut for Southampton in their English Championship opener victory against Wrexham.
The 21-year-old centre-back, who joined the Saints in the current transfer window from Hoffenheim was called to action on Saturday, when his outfit triumphed over their opponent at the St. Mary's Stadium.
Quarshie played a pivotal role in his first appearance for the club, contributing significantly to their 2-1 home victory over Wrexham.
The visitors threw-away their one goal lead in the first half, succumbing to defeat in their opening fixture. England forward Josh Windass broke the deadlock from the spot in the 22nd-minute mark as they went to the halftime break with the advantage.
However, the host, who are poised for a quick return to the Premier League staged a strong comeback to snatch an important home victory.
Wrexham were cruising to victory until the Saints pulled a surprise in stoppage time to secure maximum points.
Irish international Ryan Manning pulled parity in the 90th-minute mark before Jack Stephens found the net in injury time to seal victory for the host.
Quarshie secured a move to the English outfit this summer, penning a contract that will keep him at the club until summer 2029.
Having begun his spell on a good note, the talented German-Ghanaian defender will be hoping for more success in the 2025/26 campaign.
