Asante Kotoko will begin their 2025/26 CAF Confederation Cup campaign against Nigeria’s Kwara United in the first preliminary round, following Saturday’s draw.
The Ghanaian FA Cup champions secured their place in the competition after edging Golden Kicks 2-1 in last month’s final.
This marks Kotoko’s first appearance in the tournament since 2022, with the Kumasi-based club aiming to make a strong impression on the continental stage.
Kotoko will host the first leg in Kumasi between September 19 and 21, before travelling to Nigeria for the return fixture from September 26 to 28.
Their opponents, Kwara United, are making the trip on the back of their maiden President’s Federation Cup triumph, clinched after a goalless draw and a 4-3 penalty shootout victory over Abakaliki FC.
Should the Porcupines advance, they will face Moroccan powerhouse Wydad Casablanca in the second preliminary round. Wydad, a multiple-time African champion, awaits the winner of the tie as they enter the competition at the next stage.
The second preliminary round will be contested in late September and early October, with the aggregate winner booking a place in the group stage of Africa’s second-tier club competition.
