Morgan Fassbender made the difference in a tense Ekstraklasa clash as Termalica Nieciecza beat Górnik Zabrze 1-0 at Stadion im. Ernesta Pohla on Friday evening.
The German-Ghanaian striker had the fewest touches of any outfield player to complete 90 minutes, just 33, but needed only one moment to decide the game. In the 38th minute, Maciej Wolski slipped a clever pass into the box, and Fassbender calmly fired low into the bottom right corner.
Górnik, who had enjoyed the better of past meetings with two wins to Termalica’s two and four draws, dominated the ball with 62% possession and racked up 26 shots. Yet, they couldn’t find a way past the visitors’ stubborn defence.
Termalica, efficient and disciplined, managed just seven shots but converted their best chance. The win lifts them in confidence as Fassbender’s sharp start to the season continues, two goals in four games.
Next, Termalica face a tricky test against Raków CzÄstochowa on August 17th, with Fassbender looking to keep his scoring run alive.
