Bibiani GoldStars captain Yakubu Haqq says the club’s latest signings have strengthened every department of the team, making for a more competitive and ambitious pre-season ahead of their CAF Champions League debut.
GoldStars have made significant additions to their squad to strengthen all areas, with more signings expected before the Champions League campaign begins.
The team hopes its recruitment drive, combined with a competitive environment in training, will sharpen performance levels ahead of the challenge.
Haqq believes the club’s recruitment drive has not only addressed key areas but also raised the overall quality and intensity in camp.
“This season's signings cover all departments, so you can see the new guys are also responding very well, which I think has made things very competitive â which I think is good," he told Joy Sports.
"Because if everyone is competing, that means if you don't compete very well, it will be very hard for you to even get playing time. So those who are around are competing very well."
GoldStars will represent Ghana in Africa’s elite club competition for the first time after winning the Ghana Premier League last season.
The Miners will discover their preliminary round opponents when the CAF Champions League draw is held on August 12.
