Black Queens defender Josephine Kyerewaa Bonsu has opened up on her first international tournament with the national women's team of Ghana.
The German-born wing-back starred for the Black Queens as Ghana claimed bronze in Morocco, scoring in the penalty shootout victory over South Africa.
Bonsu had to pass a late fitness test to make Ghana's squad for the tournament.
"First tournament - First medal. Not taking this for granted! Thanks medical staff for your patience and believe - from MRI to bronze in no time," she posted on Instagram.
The Carl Zeiss Jena player acknowledged the physical trainers of the national team for playing a pivotal role in her swift adaptation into the team.
"Thanks Jordan Fitness for pushing me to my limits when I wasn’t. Thanks Cris Baffour for your knowledge and truth when nobody wanted to speak up," she added.
Bonsu has now set her sights on the ultimate at future international competitions.
"Thanks Girls for giving me the most fulfilling weeks and a daily headache at the same time. Thank you Ghana for believing in us when nobody was. Congrats to Nigeria, next time we go for gold," she said.
