Ghanaian teenager Hafiz Gariba says he is determined to break into Barcelona’s first team as he prepares for the new season with the Spanish giants' youth setup.
The 18-year-old defender, who joined Barcelona’s Juvenil B U-18 team on a three-year contract, is aiming to make an impression strong enough to earn promotion within the club’s ranks.
Gariba made the move to La Masia after catching the eye of Barca scouts during his time at the Marcet Soccer Academy in Spain.
“I think this season. When I return, I am going to fight. I am going to fight so I get recognised and promoted to the senior team," he told Flashscore.
His journey began with Ghanaian lower-tier side Zinaps FC, where he stood out with his composure and technical ability.
That promise saw him land at Villarreal CF Africa, which helped elevate his game and pave the way for European interest.
Barcelona were drawn to his calmness in defence and technical attributes, prompting them to bring him into their youth ranks.
Gariba now becomes one of several La Masia hopefuls aiming to emulate the likes of Xavi, Busquets, and Messi by rising through the academy to the top.
