"We lost concentration"- Black Queens coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren after South Africa defeat
Black Queens coach Kim Lars Bjokegren has blamed the lapse in concentration for his side's defeat to South Africa in their opening Group C match at the Women's Africa Cup of Nations.First half strikes from Linda Motlhalo and Jermaine Seoposenwe were enough for the defending champions to inflict Ghana with defeat following their return to the tournament. The West Africans had chances to score in the second half after strikes against the post from Alice Kusi and Evelyn Badu. However, South Africa defended resolutely in the second half with goalkeeper Andile Dlamini denying Ghana of at least a point. We were the better team the first half hour until the goal came. They scored from the penalty, it came from no where after that we gave them the opportunity to score anotherone and that is a problem. We lost a little bit of concentration, said Bjorkegren.Despite the defeat, the Swedish trainer was impressed with the performance and not the result.Otherwise, I think the performance was pretty good, I will say. We knew we were playing the previous champions and maybe the potential of the toughest game we can play, he added.Ghana will next face Mali in Group C before engaging Tanzania in their final match.
