
The Governing Boards of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) and the Ghana Tourism Development Company (GTDC) have been inaugurated at two separate ceremonies held in Accra by the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Abla Dzifa Gomashie.
The inaugurations mark a strategic move by the ministry to reinforce leadership across key institutions in the tourism and creative arts sector, as Ghana seeks to position itself as a premier destination for tourism, cultural heritage and creative investment.
At both events, the minister emphasised the crucial role of the boards in supporting innovation, enhancing stakeholder collaboration and shaping policies that will drive the growth and sustainability of the tourism industry. She charged members to serve with integrity, professionalism and dedication, stressing that the success and impact of their institutions largely depend on the quality of leadership they provide. “Your roles come with challenges and expectations,” Hon. Gomashie said.
The Ghana Tourism Authority and the Ghana Tourism Development Company are at the forefront of promoting Ghana’s rich cultural heritage, creative industries and tourism potential. “It is imperative that you work collectively, apply innovative thinking and uphold good governance to justify the confidence reposed in you by His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama.”
Expressing their appreciation, board representatives from both institutions pledged to work diligently to fulfil their mandates. Madam Suweibatu Adam, speaking on behalf of the GTA Board, assured the minister of their commitment to advancing Ghana’s tourism and creative sectors. Likewise, GTDC Board Chairperson Ben Ohene-Ayeh thanked the President and the minister for the opportunity to serve and reaffirmed their readiness to provide strategic leadership and accountability.
The Ghana Tourism Authority Governing Board comprises individuals from diverse professional backgrounds: Getrude Emefa Donkor, Yussif Isaaka Jajah, Maame Efua Sekyi-Aidoo Houadjeto, Kwame Adu Darko Okyere-Mansuo, Samuel Seth Passah, Joseph Osiakwan, Suweibatu Adam, Afi Amoro, Prince Anthony Bart-Appiah, Bella Kokoe Ayayee Ahu and Darison Baba Al-hassan.
The Ghana Tourism Development Company Board members are: Ben Ohene-Ayeh (Chairperson), Prof. Kobby Mensah, Angelo Norkplim Agbodzie, Dora Nanahemaa Adjoa Awindor, Nangeh Adjoba Kyiamah, Zakaria Tanko Musah, Dr. Geoffrey Deladem Tamakloe, Awudu Lash Jnr. Baguah and Atsu G. Klugah.
Both inauguration ceremonies were attended by Directors from the Ministry of Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, led by Chief Director Mr. Joseph Kwasi Amoah, as well as representatives from the tourism, creative arts and investment communities.
The dual inaugurations come at a pivotal moment, as Ghana intensifies efforts to diversify its economy through tourism, the creative industry and cultural promotion. The newly appointed boards are expected to play a central role in spearheading innovation, attracting investment and promoting Ghana as a competitive and attractive destination regionally and globally.
