The Paramount Chief of Essikado Traditional Area, Nana Kobina Nketsia V has commended MTN Ghana for its continued support of traditional festivals across the country
He described the telecom giant as a true partner in cultural preservation.
He made the commendation when MTN Ghana, as part of its corporate social investment presented a cheque of GH¢30,000 and GH¢2,000 worth of airtime, a hamper of assorted drinks to support this year’s Kuntum Festival celebrated by the chiefs and people of Essikado.
Receiving the donation, Nana Kobina Nketsia V highlighted the importance of such contributions to the sustainability of cultural heritage and community bonding.
“MTN’s support underscores its commitment to cultural development and community engagement,” he said.
He referenced the company’s previous involvement in similar events, stating, “I saw you supporting Nana Kodwo Conduah and the Edina Traditional Council during their Bakatue Festival. It would be great if all traditional festivals in the country were branded MTN festivals.”
The Paramount Chief also revealed that MTN’s intervention haa saved an important activity from being cancelled. “But for your support, the football competition as part of the celebration would have been cancelled,” he disclosed.
He however, encouraged the company to continue improving its services to meet the satisfaction of its growing customer base.
Prince Owusu Nyarko, Senior Manager for MTN in the Western and Central Regions, reiterated MTN’s belief in the power of culture to drive unity and development.
“Festivals bring development and unite the people, hence the need to support such initiatives,” he said.
“As an African company, we believe in the culture of our people. We are here to wish Nana a happy anniversary and to support the Kuntum Festival” he added.
Mr. Nyarko further indicated that MTN will have an active presence during the festival, with customer service stands to enhance customer experience and access to MTN products and services.
Emmanuel Bissue, Personal Assistant to the Paramount Chief, outlined activities for the celebration which includes; Candlelight Procession, ‘By the Fire Side’ storytelling session, Indoor Games, a Health Walk, and a Thanksgiving Service.
The Kuntum Festival, one of the most celebrated in the Western Region, plays a key role in preserving tradition and promoting community development.
