
Interior Minister, Alhaji Muntaka Mubarak, has announced that the Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has developed a clear strategic direction aligned with the 24-Hour Economy initiative.
He charged the service to sustain its momentum and demonstrate tenacity in its operations to ensure that immigration permits are issued to foreign nationals within a 24-hour timeframe.
Muntaka said this when he attended the graduation ceremony of the 19th cadet intake of the Ghana Immigration Service at the Immigration Academy and Training School in Assin Foso; Central Region on Wednesday, June 25.
In his address, he underscored the critical role of the GIS in safeguarding national security and advancing economic development.

“As the country’s first line of defense, the Service plays a vital role in monitoring and regulating what enters and exits Ghana’s borders, including the issuance of visas to non-Ghanaians,” he said.
He further announced plans to automate the residence permit process and charged the Service to adopt innovative and robust approaches to managing migration.
“I urged GIS to leverage modern technology to enhance the efficiency of its operations and improve service delivery,” the Asawase lawmaker subsequently wrote on Facebook after the event.

Finally, he added, “I commended the graduating cadets for the successful completion of their training. I applauded their dedication and tireless efforts, and I encouraged them to uphold the virtues and high standards of discipline instilled in them. I urged them to serve with integrity, professionalism and an unwavering commitment to national service.”
