The Human Rights Court in Accra has scheduled June 18, 2025, to deliver its ruling on a motion filed by former Finance Minister Kenneth Ofori-Atta seeking to restrain the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) from declaring him wanted.
Mr. Ofori-Atta’s legal team is also requesting the court to order the OSP to remove prior declarations and related notices from its social media platforms.
The motion, which was formally moved by his lawyers, is being contested by the OSP.
The court’s decision is expected to determine the legality of the OSP’s move to publicly declare Ofori-Atta wanted amid investigations into alleged procurement breaches during his tenure as Finance Minister.
The OSP launched a probe into alleged corruption-related offences involving Ken Ofori-Atta in connection with government’s bond issuance and procurement processes.
When the former minister failed to honour an invitation, the OSP issued a public notice declaring him a wanted person—a move that sparked legal and political debate.
