Dr. Yakubu Seidu Adam appointed CEO of Korle Bu Teaching Hospital

Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Ghana’s premier healthcare institution, is set to welcome Dr. Yakubu Seidu Adam as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective Tuesday, May 6th, 2025.

He succeeds Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah, whose term as CEO ended in October 202.

This appointment, announced by the Government of Ghana, marks a significant moment for the hospital as it continues its journey of transformation, guided by a leader deeply rooted in its own history.

Dr. Adam’s journey with Korle Bu began in 2003, and over the past two decades, he has become an integral part of the hospital’s fabric.

A highly respected Consultant Eye Surgeon, Dr. Adam has dedicated his career to the intricate world of ophthalmology, specializing in glaucoma, cataract, and refractive surgery. His expertise and commitment to patient care have earned him the respect of colleagues and patients alike.

Before stepping into this new leadership role, Dr. Adam served as the Head of the Lions International Eye Centre, where his vision and guidance propelled the center to become a leading ophthalmic facility in the sub-region. His passion for advancing eye care and improving the lives of patients is evident in his work.

Dr. Adam’s credentials extend beyond his clinical expertise. He is a Fellow of the Ghana College of Surgeons and an active member of several prestigious professional organizations, including the Ophthalmological Society of Ghana, the Turkish Ophthalmology Society, and the American Academy of Ophthalmology.
