Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi was thrown aback by Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal’s performance in his side’s 3-3 draw against the Catalans in the Champions League semi-finals on Wednesday.
Inter, playing away from home, raced into a 2-0 lead after sublime finishes from Marcus Thuram and Denzel Dumfries in the first half before Barcelona pecked them back.
Lamine Yamal scored Barcelona’s first goal after wriggling past three Inter Milan players before his effort came off the inside of the post before trickling into the net.
Ferran Torres pulled parity for the hosts before half time.
The second half saw Dumfries bag his brace while an effort from Raphinha hit the back of Sommer before going into the net.
On his 100th appearance for Barcelona, Lamine Yamal put on a show on the right wing, causing havoc for Inter Milan’s defence.
The 17-year-old has now scored 22 goals and provided 33 assists after a century of games for Barcelona.
Reacting to Lamine Yamal’s performance, Inter manager Inzaghi said:
“ I haven’t seen a player like Yamal in the last eight or nine years. We had to put three players on him.”
Barcelona will be hoping to secure a final berth for the first time in a decade, while Inter Milan, finalists from 2023, will hope to nick the title for the first time in 15 years.
