President-elect John Dramani Mahama assumes office today, Monday January 7, as the fourth President of the Fourth Republic of Ghana.

Government has stated that January 7, 2013 is not a public holiday although the inaugural ceremony of President-elect, John Mahama has been declared a national event.

A 30-year-old farmer in the Eastern region, Ben Nartey has committed suicide after going on a shooting spree killing one of his three children, injuring his ex-wife, and his ex mother-in-law.
