The Prudential Bank, in collaboration with KomfoAnokye Teaching Hospital (KATH) and Manhyia Hospital, has embarked on a free breast cancer screening exercise for over 500 women at Aboabo, a suburb of Kumasi
The exercise featured a “three-in-one” approach, providing breast cancer screening, blood pressure checks, and blood sugar tests for the beneficiaries.
Mr.BennetFrimpong, Head of Public Relations at the Bank, explained that the exercise was part of the bank’s corporate social responsibility to give back to the community.
According to him, early detection saves lives hence the Bank’s decision to provide women with the opportunity to check their health status with Doctors.
He explained that the bank aims to reach over 500 people, exceeding the 300 it screened last year.
He noted that the bank plans to continue the initiative, providing the community with access to essential health services.
Madam Kate Opoku, Superintendent of Healthcare at KATH, emphasized the importance of early detection and urged women to prioritise their health and seek timely screening.
She also cautioned women against using family planning methods without consulting a doctor and highlighted the risks of late pregnancy or delayed childbirth.
