The Football Association has named 40 aspiring coaches who will take part in the GFA Licence D Coaching Course in the Central Region from 14 to 21 September 2026.
The week-long programme will be held at the Robert Mensah Stadium, where participants will receive intensive instruction aimed at preparing them for a career in football coaching.
The course will cover essential technical knowledge and practical coaching skills, while also introducing participants to the principles and methods used in modern coaching.
Classroom teaching will be combined with practical sessions to give the coaches direct experience of applying what they learn. The structure is intended to strengthen both their understanding of coaching theory and their ability to use it in training environments.
Safeguarding will form an important part of the programme through GFA/FIFA Safeguarding training. The session will focus on the responsibilities coaches have in protecting the welfare, safety and development of young players.
The initiative is part of the GFA’s wider effort to develop grassroots football by increasing the number of qualified, knowledgeable and responsible coaches working at that level.
Through the course, the GFA aims to build a stronger coaching base capable of identifying emerging talent, nurturing young players and guiding their development.
The training will be supervised by GFA Technical Director Professor Joseph Kwame Mintah and Head of Coach Education Dr Prosper Nartey.
They will provide technical direction and oversee the programme throughout its duration.
