James Ampofo scores in Esbjerg FB draw with HB Koge

Ghanaian forward James Ampofo was on target as Esbjerg FB shared the points with HB Køge in a dramatic 2-2 draw in Denmark’s Betinia Liga.

Ampofo opened the scoring in the 21st minute, finishing an opportunity created by Oluwatomiwa Kolawole to give the home side a deserved advantage.

Esbjerg carried that lead into halftime and strengthened it immediately after the restart. Nicklas Strunck made it 2-0 in the 46th minute, again with Kolawole providing the assist, leaving the hosts in a strong position.

HB Køge, however, produced a quick response. Tobias Thomsen converted a penalty in the 49th minute before Rasmus Brodersen equalised in the 62nd, assisted by Fisnik Isaki. Despite late pressure from both teams, neither side could find a winner.

Ampofo started in Esbjerg’s forward line and was substituted in the 84th minute after a lively performance. His goal was his first in three league appearances this season, offering a timely boost as he seeks to establish himself as a regular scoring option.

Esbjerg remain 11th in the table following the draw. Their attention now turns to the Oddset Pokalen, where they will face HIK on September 15.
