Ghanaian midfielder George Asamoah has joined Ethnikos Assias from MEAP Nisou on a free transfer, bringing a new central midfield option to the Cypriot club.
Asamoah, 28, completed the move on 9 September 2026 and has agreed a contract running until 31 May 2027. The left-footed midfielder was born in Accra and has spent the majority of his recent career in Cyprus.
He arrives after four years with MEAP Nisou, whom he joined from Ghanaian side Great Olympics in August 2022, also on a free transfer. His move to Ethnikos Assias keeps him in Cyprus as he begins the next stage of his career.
Asamoah’s record includes 64 appearances and one goal in the Cypriot second division, as well as 62 Premier League appearances in which he scored four goals and provided two assists. He has also featured in promotion and relegation competitions during his career.
The midfielder previously played for Great Olympics and Ebusua Dwarfs in Ghana. He joined Ebusua Dwarfs in October 2020 after a period without a club, before moving to Great Olympics the following year.
At 1.78 metres, Asamoah is primarily a central midfielder and is comfortable operating from the left side of the pitch. His arrival gives Ethnikos Assias another experienced option in midfield, while extending his time in the Cypriot game.
The transfer was completed without a fee, with Asamoah switching from MEAP Nisou to Ethnikos Assias on 9 September 2026.
