Tariq Lamptey assist helps QPR beat Blackburn

Tariq Lamptey made an immediate impact as Queens Park Rangers came from behind to beat Blackburn Rovers 2-1 at Ewood Park.

The Ghanaian defender came off the bench at half-time and helped turn the match in QPR’s favour with a decisive assist for Jimmy Dunne’s winner.

Blackburn had looked the sharper side early on, but the game changed after the break. Ryoya Morishita put the hosts ahead in the 49th minute, only for Paul Smyth to level two minutes later and shift momentum toward QPR. Lamptey then delivered the key pass in the 74th minute, helping Dunne finish the comeback.

The match facts showed QPR were the more threatening side overall, finishing with more shots, more touches in the opposition box and a higher expected-goals tally. Blackburn did enjoy more possession, but they could not make it count when the visitors responded with greater efficiency.

For Lamptey, the assist was another encouraging sign of his growing influence in the Championship. QPR now turn their attention to Cardiff, who they face next on September 2.
