'Lampard called me' - Thomas-Asante reveals role in Yirenkyi's Coventry move

Coventry City forward Brandon Thomas-Asante has revealed that he played a role in bringing Ghana teammate Caleb Yirenkyi to the Sky Blues, disclosing that manager Frank Lampard contacted him during the World Cup to seek his views on the young midfielder.

Yirenkyi arrived at Coventry in a club-record deal from FC Nordsjælland and has already made a significant impact, providing assists in both pre-season and competitive action.

But according to Thomas-Asante, the move was shaped by a conversation that took place while both Ghanaian players were on international duty.

"I don't take too much credit, maybe a little," Thomas-Asante told Premier League TV. **"Frank Lampard called me during the World Cup, and he was very honest with his appreciation for Caleb and asked me for my opinions on him."
