Italian-Ghanaian striker Martin Boakye gave FC Andijon the lead, but Nasaf Qarshi fought back to earn a 1-1 draw in the Uzbekistan Cup on Thursday.
The result kept the contest tight throughout, with Andijon unable to turn their first-half advantage into a win.
Boakye opened the scoring in the 25th minute, finishing off Andijon’s bright start and putting the hosts in control. Nasaf, though, stayed in the game and found their equaliser after the break through Bobir Abdikholikov in the 57th minute. From there, both sides pushed for a winner, but neither could find the decisive goal before full time.
The draw extends Andijon’s difficult recent record against Nasaf, who have now gone seven matches without defeat in the head-to-head series. Still, Andijon can take some encouragement from the fact that they competed strongly and got another goal from Boakye.
Andijon’s next fixture is against Surkhon in the Uzbekistan Super League, where they will look to turn this performance into three points.
