Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kurt Okraku has welcomed the new partnership between Gold Fields Ghana Limited and the GFA following the announcement of a $5 million sponsorship agreement.
Gold Fields Ghana on Friday unveiled a two-year partnership with the Football Association, becoming an Official Partner of Ghana football.
The sponsorship package will support the Black Stars, Black Queens, the Women’s Premier League and the Black Challenge national amputee football team.
Reacting to the announcement in a Facebook post, Simeon-Okraku described the agreement as a major investment into the future of Ghana football and praised the company for its commitment to the sport.
“This significant investment will support the Black Stars, Black Queens, the Women’s Premier League and the Black Challenge, strengthening the growth of women’s football and para-sports in Ghana,” he wrote.
The GFA president also noted that the partnership revives a long-standing relationship between Gold Fields and Ghana football, recalling the company’s support for the Black Stars more than two decades ago.
“Today’s partnership also rekindles a historic relationship that played an important role in our football journey more than two decades ago,” he stated.
Simeon-Okraku further expressed appreciation to Gold Fields Ghana Senior Vice President and Managing Director Elliot Twum and his team for their continued support towards football development in the country.
“Together, we continue to build for the future of the game in Ghana,” he added.
The sponsorship is expected to provide major financial support for Ghana football while strengthening women’s football and para-sports development across the country.
