Devon Amoo-Mensah scored the only goal of the game to send Detroit City FC past Louisville City FC in a hard-fought 1â0 win in the USL Championship Round of 16.
The American-Ghanaian defender showed great composure in the 34th minute, striking with his left foot from close range after Jay Chapman’s precise corner found him at the far post. His finish proved enough to silence the home crowd at Lynn Family Stadium.
Despite controlling 60% of possession and creating more chances, Louisville City struggled to find a way past Detroit’s disciplined backline. Amoo-Mensah stood firm in defense, putting in a commanding display that earned praise from the visiting supporters.
Detroit City managed the game well after the break, holding their narrow lead until the final whistle in the seventh minute of stoppage time.
With the victory sealed, Detroit City FC now look ahead to their league clash with Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC on November 8, carrying momentum and belief after a memorable defensive and attacking performance from Amoo-Mensah.
