Medeama SC maintained their position at the top of the Ghana Premier League table after a hard-fought 1-1 draw with Hohoe United at the Hohoe Sports Stadium on Saturday.
The match, played in front of an energetic home crowd, saw Hohoe United take an early lead through Francis Odoom in the ninth minute. The young forward capitalised on a defensive lapse to slot the ball past the Medeama goalkeeper, sending the home fans into raptures.
Despite the early setback, the league leaders gradually took control of the game, dominating possession and creating several chances. Their persistence paid off just before halftime when Abdul Salam struck a well-taken equaliser in the 43rd minute to restore parity.
The second half was an end-to-end affair, with Medeama pressing for a winner while Hohoe relied on quick counterattacks. The visitors registered 13 total shots, 11 of them on target, compared to Hohoe’s seven. However, both sides failed to convert their chances as the game ended level.
Medeama will host Aduana FC in their next league fixture, hoping to extend their unbeaten run, while Hohoe United will look to bounce back when they travel to face Nations FC in their next outing.
