Black Queens forward Alice Kusi says the team is delighted to have secured qualification for consecutive editions of the CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations.
Kusi reflected on Ghana’s recent progress, recalling the disappointment of missing the 2022 tournament after losing to Nigeria in the playoffs.
She said the team’s resurgence and consistency under coach Kim Lars Björkegren have been remarkable.
“This is amazing. I can remember way back when we couldn't make it, but last season we went to the WAFCON, we made an impact and lucky for us, here we are today,” Kusi told 3Sports.
The forward also praised her teammates for their collective effort and discipline throughout the qualifying campaign, adding that the team’s spirit and focus made the difference.
“We are so excited for the amazing performance we put on also. Congratulations to the entire team,” she said.
The Black Queens sealed qualification with a commanding 7-0 aggregate win over Egypt, continuing their impressive form from the last tournament.
Ghana will now turn attention to preparations for the 2026 Women’s AFCON, where they aim to challenge the continent’s best and make a deeper run than in 2024.
