Sports Minister Kofi Adams has confirmed that all of Ghana’s national football teams are owed outstanding bonuses but assured that government will fulfil its obligations.
His comments follow days of tension in the Black Queens camp over unpaid bonuses from their 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations campaign.
The team trained on Monday after boycotting sessions for two days ahead of Tuesday’s decisive qualifier against Egypt.
“Well, maybe the management of the Black Stars have done things better. It’s not like we never owe the Black Stars. All teams are owed, but they will be paid,” Adams told Joy Sports.
“The Satellites are owed. The Black Stars, we only paid their final bonuses recently, after their qualifiers. The Princesses, we haven’t paid fully what is due them. So all national teams are owed one thing or another. But the government will surely pay.”
Each Black Queens player is reportedly owed $9,500 for their bronze-winning campaign in Morocco.
The Sports Minister added that the necessary financial approvals had been secured.
“These have gotten approvals. It’s not like we are debating approvals here,” he said.
The Black Queens hold a 3-0 first-leg advantage and will host Egypt at the Accra Sports Stadium at 15:30 GMT as they chase qualification for the 2026 WAFCON.
