Medeama SC head coach Ibrahim Tanko has described his team’s first-half display against Swedru All Blacks as the worst since he took charge.
Tanko made the admission after Medeama secured a hard-fought 1-0 victory at the TNA Stadium to remain top of the Ghana Premier League table.
The Mauve and Yellows now have 16 points, one ahead of Aduana Stars, after winning five of their seven matches this season.
Speaking to the club’s media after the game, Tanko said the team’s first-half performance fell far below his expectations, even though they eventually claimed all three points.
“A really tough game; I must admit this is the worst first half we’ve played since I’ve been here, but it’s part of football,” he said.
“The most important thing is to have the three points at the end of the day.”
He, however, commended his players for showing resilience to grind out a result despite their struggles in the opening half.
“Even though it was really hard, I congratulate the boys for fighting to get the three points,” Tanko added.
Defender Kamaradini Mamudu’s 73rd-minute goal sealed victory for Medeama, whose focus now shifts to maintaining their lead in the Premier League standings.
