Black Queens returned to the pitch on Monday evening for their first and only training session ahead of Tuesday’s crucial 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) qualifier second leg against Egypt at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The session came after a two-day standoff, as players refused to train in protest over unpaid bonuses following their third-place finish at the 2024 WAFCON in Morocco. Each player is reported to be owed $9,500 from the tournament held in July.
Their decision to resume training followed a meeting with GFA President Kurt Okraku and Director of National Teams Alex Asante on Monday morning, where assurances were given regarding the resolution of the payment issue. All 24 players took part in the evening session under the watch of the technical team, with Okraku and members of the GFA Executive Council in attendance.
The training concluded in a lively mood as players and officials danced together, signalling renewed focus ahead of the fixture.

Meanwhile, the GFA has denied reports suggesting that Sports Minister Kofi Adams "called off the bluff" of the players during discussions.
Ghana go into Tuesday’s game with a comfortable 3-0 aggregate advantage after goals from Doris Boaduwaa, Mary Amponsah, and Grace Amponsah in the first leg. Kick-off is at 15:30 GMT at the Accra Sports Stadium.
