Former Asante Kotoko midfielder Michael Akufo has charged the Porcupine Warriors to approach the CAF Confederation Cup return fixture against Wydad Casablanca with a winning mentality.
The Ghanaian giants face an uphill task in Morocco this weekend, after falling short to Wydad Casablanca in the first leg of the second preliminary round, held at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.
Striker Joseph Bakasu scored the only goal of the match, ensuring his outfit return to the North African country with the advantage. A corner kick in the 47th minute wasn’t properly dealt with by Kotoko’s defence, with Bakasu capitalizing on it to fire home from close range for the match-winner.
However, Akufo, who is refusing to give up on qualification has entreated the Porcupine Warriors to approach the game with a winning mentality.
“I know it’s not over for us, it’s possible just that we have to go into the second leg with a winning mentality [and] it’s possible that Kotoko can go there and get a good result.
Asante Kotoko are expected to depart Ghana for Morocco on Wednesday as they gear up for the much-anticipated return clash on Friday.
