
King Mohammed VI has sent a heartfelt message of congratulations to Morocco’s under-20 national football team following their historic FIFA U-20 World Cup victory in Chile.
In his message, the King said he followed "with immense joy and deep pride" the team’s remarkable journey, which culminated in a "well-deserved" triumph, Morocco’s first-ever world title at this level.
The Monarch praised the "Atlas Cubs" for their unity, confidence, and professionalism, describing their success as a reflection of Morocco’s growing football strength and the exceptional potential of its youth.
"We commend this sporting feat, the result of your high self-confidence, your unwavering belief in your potential and talent, the spirit of unity and harmony you have demonstrated," the King stated.
He lauded the players, coaches, and technical and administrative staff for representing Morocco and Africa with pride and honour, adding that their victory had brought "immense joy to the Moroccan people."
King Mohammed VI also urged the team to remain focused and dedicated, expressing confidence that this milestone marks the beginning of greater achievements for Moroccan football.
Morocco defeated six-time champions Argentina 2-0 in the final to lift the trophy.
