Semper Fi’s unbeaten run in the Division One League came to an end on Sunday as they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Golden Kick at the Tuba Astroturf.
After a competitive first half that produced few clear chances, the home side found the breakthrough early in the second period. Shaban Abubakar struck in the 49th minute, finishing off a well-worked move to give Golden Kick the lead.
Despite Semper Fi’s efforts to respond, the hosts defended resolutely and managed the game well to preserve their advantage until the final whistle. It was a frustrating outcome for Semper Fi, who had enjoyed a strong start to the season with one win and two draws, often looking the better side in each of their opening matches.
The defeat will serve as a setback for the Teshie-based club, who will now turn their focus to next week’s fixture at the McDan Sports Complex, where they host Golden Warriors. With their unbeaten start now over, Semper Fi will be determined to bounce back quickly and rediscover their early-season form.
