Minister of Education Haruna Iddrisu has expressed optimism that the Black Stars can go all the way at the 2026 FIFA World Cup after securing qualification for the tournament.
The minister made the remarks when Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku paid him a courtesy visit to discuss the revival of school sports across the country.
Hon. Iddrisu, who is also the Member of Parliament for Tamale South, commended the national team for their achievement and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to developing young talent through structured school football programmes.
“The Black Stars of Ghana made all of us proud,” he said.
He emphasised the importance of collaboration among key institutions to sustain Ghana’s football success.
“What we are looking forward to is a stronger collaborative relationship between the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Sports and Recreation, and the Ghana Football Association, supported by a corporate donor, to revive football in schools, colleges, and universities so that we can identify young talents early and groom them with discipline,” he noted.
Looking ahead to the World Cup in the U.S., Mexico, and Canada, Iddrisu said he believes Ghana can make history. “The impossible can be possible, and Ghana will be there,” he said confidently.
