Mohammed Kudus has spoken candidly about his fiery first encounter with current Tottenham Hotspur teammate Micky van de Ven, recalling the red card incident that marred their meeting in October 2024.
At the time, Kudus was playing for West Ham United and had given his side the lead in a tense London derby. However, Spurs stormed back in the second half, and with frustration mounting, Kudus lashed out at Van de Ven in the closing minutes of a 4-1 defeat. The Ghanaian midfielder was shown a red card after shoving the Dutch defender in the face during a heated scuffle.
Reflecting on the clash almost a year later, Kudus admitted his emotions got the better of him. "I was just fuming that game, and I just reacted straight away," he told Sports Illustrated.
The two players reunited at Tottenham this summer following Kudus’s £55 million move from West Ham, but the midfielder insists there was no lingering animosity.
"Whatever happened on the pitch stays on the pitch. It’s done and dusted after the game. It’s nice playing with him now. It’s a small world in football. So just try to patch up and move on," Kudus added.
