The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has welcomed the ruling of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) dismissing King Faisal FC’s request for a stay of execution in its case against the Association.
In a decision delivered on October 1, 2025, CAS rejected the Kumasi-based club’s attempt to suspend the implementation of resolutions passed at the August 12, 2025, GFA Congress, including the extension of the presidential term limit to three.
The request, filed on September 1, 2025, was dismissed after CAS found that King Faisal had failed to satisfy the three conditions required for such reliefârisk of irreparable harm, likelihood of success on the merits of the appeal, and whether the applicant’s interests outweighed those of the respondent.
The ruling, signed by Mrs Corinne Schmidhauser, President of the CAS Appeals Arbitration Division, confirmed that the Congress decisions remain fully in effect. CAS further noted that the costs of the order will be determined in its final award.
The GFA described the decision as a validation of the integrity of Congress resolutions and reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening governance within Ghanaian football.
