
Ghanaian giants Asante Kotoko are working to secure approval from CAF to host their CAF Confederation Cup first-leg clash against Wydad Casablanca at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
Due to renovation works at the venue, the Porcupine Warriors were forced to host Kwara United in the last round of the Confederation Cup preliminary stage at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Despite playing away from home, the Kumasi-based club managed to secure a 4-3 win against the Nigerians, and subsequently beat the side 1-0 in the reverse fixture to progress to the second round of the preliminary stage of the continental inter-club competition.

Now set to face off with Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca, Kotoko want to host the home fixture at their traditional home grounds, the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.
According to Sarfo Duku, who is the club’s Director of Communications, they are working to secure approval from CAF to take the game to Kumasi.
"I can confirm that we (Kotoko) are doing everything possible to get CAF to approve Baba Yara Stadium so that we can host Wydad in the next two weeks,” Duku told 7DSGH TV in an interview.
Meanwhile, Asante Kotoko will host their upcoming Ghana Premier League fixture against league leaders Heart of Lions at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday, October 5.
