Asante Kotoko coach Karim Zito has backed striker Albert Amoah for Black Stars call-up, stressing that the young forward has done enough to merit a spot.
Amoah has been a key figure in the Porcupine Warriors set-up since his move from Great Olympics.
The 25-year-old famously netted a brace in the first leg of the CAF Confederation Cup against Kwara United as Kotoko recorded a 4-3 win at the Accra Sports Stadium before a hard-fought 1-0 win in the return leg to qualify for the next round on a 5-3 aggregate scoreline.
Speaking in an interview, Zito praised Amoah’s recent displays, particularly in front of high-profile observers.
“Albert Amoah has proven that he deserves a place in the Black Stars. He delivered an outstanding performance in front of the coaches, the GFA President, and his Executive Council. If he earns a call-up, there will be little room for objection,” the Kotoko coach stressed.
Zito further highlighted Amoah’s contribution to Kotoko’s recent CAF Confederation Cup victory over Kwara United, despite the striker not finding the net in Nigeria.
“The importance of goal-scoring in every club is very high. Even though he did not score in Nigeria, he was unsettling defenders and creating chances for his teammates,” he explained.
Amoah will hope to continue his goalscoring prowess when Asante Kotoko host Hohoe United in the Matchday 4 games in the ongoing 2025/26 Ghana Premier League season this weekend at the Baba Yara Stadium.
