Heart of Lions have leapfrogged Medeama Sporting Club to the summit of the 2025/26 Ghana Premier League standings after Week 3.
The team from Kpando had an amazing time in the Ghanaian top-flight league last season, only missing out on the trophy to Gold Stars by three points.
After a good pre-season, Heart of Lions have started the new league campaign in red-hot form.
On Sunday, the team laboured to defeat Bechem United 1-0 in a tough Week 3 encounter at Kpando Sports Stadium.
Before that victory, the team had beaten Dreams FC 1-0 and thumped Eleven Wonders 4-1 in their Week 1 and Week 2 games, respectively.
Currently unbeaten after three games into the league season, and with Medeama losing to Karela United over the weekend, Heart of Lions have moved to the top of the league log with nine points, two more points than Karela United in second position.
Hearts of Oak and Medeama Sporting Club complete the top four, while Eleven Wonders, Dreams FC, and Berekum Chelsea find themselves in the relegation zone.
The league action will continue next weekend with teams expected to fight for points to improve their positions on the league table.
For Heart of Lions, the early advantage in the standings boosts the morale of the team, giving the side the belief to push for the title.
