
Francis Amuzu stole the spotlight in Porto Alegre, coming off the bench to score and create in Gremio’s 3-1 win against Vitoria in the Brazilian Serie A.
The Belgian-Ghanaian winger, introduced in the 60th minute for Edenilson, wasted little time making his mark.
With the match tied 1-1 after Aitor Cantalapiedra’s strike had canceled out André Henrique’s opener, Amuzu showed sharp instincts. In the 67th minute, he latched onto Franco Cristaldo’s pass and slotted home from a tight angle to restore Gremio’s lead, sending the Arena do Grêmio into celebration.
The 26-year-old’s influence grew as the game wore on. Just before full-time, he turned provider, delivering a pinpoint cross that Alexander Aravena smashed in to seal the win. The late flourish ensured Gremio picked up three vital points to keep momentum in their season.
Amuzu has now registered two goals and one assist in eleven Serie A appearances, his impact growing with every outing. Gremio next face Santos FC on October 2, hopeful their winger’s spark continues.
