FC Koln coach Lukas Kwasniok was full of praise for German-Ghanaian striker Ragnar Ache after the striker marked his first Bundesliga start with an inspired performance in the 2-1 defeat against VfB Stuttgart.
Ache, 27, set up Jakub KamiÅski's goal and fought tirelessly, often winning physical duels against Stuttgart defender Julian Chabot.
Kwasniok spoke with admiration after the match: "He was our starting point. And that's exactly what he's there for: extending and controlling long balls. He did that brilliantly. What bothered me more was that we looked for that way out far too often, and too early. We could have forced the opponent to rotate more in their man-oriented defense," the coach said.
Despite the result, Ache’s presence was a major positive. "We were still happy he was there because he helped us. It was a very good debut in the starting eleven, and we hope he stays stable because he's trained a lot in the past. And now we hope he can continue to train a lot, but also play. That's an additional burden, and we're all keeping our fingers crossed that his body can handle it."
Ache’s recent knee issues remain a concern, but his debut showed real promise for Koln’s attacking options.
