Asante Kotoko have suffered a major setback with reports that star striker Kwame Poku will be out of action for four to six weeks due to an ankle injury.
Poku was forced off after just 20 minutes during Kotoko’s Ghana Premier League clash with Berekum Chelsea, a match in which Albert Amoah’s strike ended the Porcupine Warriors' 15-year winless run at the Golden City Park.
Medical scans revealed that the former USM Algiers forward sustained an ankle injury that will require up to six weeks of recovery, ruling him out of several key fixtures.
Notably, Poku will miss Kotoko’s crucial CAF Confederation Cup encounter against Nigerian side Kwara United at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday, September 21, 2025.
The injury is a significant blow to the Porcupine Warriors’ attacking options as they aim to maintain domestic momentum and advance in continental competition.
