Ghanaian forward James Ampofo netted his maiden goal for Stromsgodset in their 2-1 win over HamKam in the Norwegian Eliteserien on Sunday.
The 21-year-old struck the decisive goal in the 83rd minute at the Briskeby Stadion, sealing all three points for the visitors.
The hosts had taken the lead through Julian Gonstad, but Lars-Christopher Vilsvik equalised before Ampofo delivered the late winner.
It was Ampofo’s eighth league appearance since joining Stromsgodset in July, and his second direct contribution after providing an assist earlier. The winger signed a three-and-a-half-year deal from second-tier side Raufoss IL, where he had impressed with six goals and one assist in 12 matches.
Ampofo first rose to prominence as part of Ghana’s U20 squad that lifted the 2021 Africa U20 Cup of Nations in Mauritania, making his debut in the semi-final win against Cameroon.
His career began at Koforidua Semper Fi in Ghana, before moving to Greece with AO Episkopi Rethymnou and later Norway, where he is now seen as one of the country’s emerging young talents.
