Africa needs strong leadership to make progress – Methodist Bishop
Kumasi, Nov. 12, GNA - The Right Reverend Professor Osei Safo-Kantanka, Methodist Bishop of Kumasi, has blamed the slow pace of Africa’s progress on the lack of effective and strong leadership.
“In all spheres of our lives, Africans continue to lag behind as most of our leaders are not being given good advice on what is expected of them in attending to the needs of the people, particularly by their close associates and advisers”, he noted.
Most of them, he said, did not have vision, political will and qualities needed to transform the lives of the people and make things better for them.
The Rt Rev Prof Safo-Kantanka was speaking at an induction service held for the Very Rev Christopher Andam, the Diocesan Synod Secretary, at the Adum Wesley Cathedral.
He spoke on the theme: “The leader and his team”.
The Bishop of Kumasi asked him to be guided by the tenets of the church in his activities saying he should be truthful, honest and transparent.
He said the expectation was that he would help to provide the right leadership to grow the church and that he should focus on drawing more people, especially the youth to God.
